A space to call my own.....

Image
Finally I have a dedicated craft room!  It is so exciting as my 'stuff' has generally been strewn around the house most of the time.  Sewing tends to happen on the dining room table and then there is fabric everywhere you look!  My scrapbooking may have its own shelves and storage tubs - but I can never find anything and I am forever clearing up when all I want to do is leave a project out to work on at leisure (ok truth be told.... not too much clearing up is done - which leaves my lounge in a state!)   So I now have my very own dedicated space!   This is looking in from the front door.  Lots of built in cupboards - perfect for fabric storage.  My own desk still to go in and be set up.   I can easily seat 6 ladies for some serious scrapping time at this huge table!  That is once I have cleared away the sewing - this is what my dining room looked like - just carried the cutting mat through to the cottage and set it down on the newly moved in table.   and of course

Next up.....

Wow ..... it has been for forever since my last post!  It is amazing how life gets so busy and we don't get round to doing things we want to.... I think I have come to a bit of cross-roads in my life..... Hubby and I are looking at the next stage in our lives..... what, where, when..... looking to God for His guidance and gently nudging and looking forward to seeing Him reveal his plans.

Time.....

Time is often our worst enemy but also our best friend.   At the moment time seems to fly by before I can even blink! When the children were babies and pre-teens life was pretty hectic - school, sports, choir, revue, birthday parties etc etc etc.... I thought that might slow day as they became teenagers - boy was I ever wrong! Now with one a young adult (almost 21) and the other a full-on teen (17 1/5)- life revolves around school, sound & lighting, girlfriend, boyfriend, work, movies, dinner out, friends - old and new - and so on..... beginning to think that I don't have a life anymore! On the plus side I am watching these 2 awesome offspring of mine grow up and mature into 2 strong, able, gentle and totally fantastic young adults... how did I get to be so lucky?  As the days fly past I see the choices they are making, mostly good, sometimes missing the mark but overall they are being adults anyone would be very proud to know! I love you 2 more than you could possible

SA Guide Dogs - graduation day....

Image
What an amazing day we had on Sunday, 26 May 2013.  SA Guide Dogs held their appreciation day and several guide dogs and of course 1 very special service dog graduated from Guide School!     Thanks to Bob Martin all the SAGA dogs sleep with full, satisfied bellies!  And of course all the graduated got a bag to go home with.... Khan gave the all important nose test and Bob Martin passes with flying colours!     Kelby and her big boy Khan!  He really is a rather large labby - but he is the most loving and helpful dog I've ever seen!     Here is Kelby with Maxine.  After the puppy walker, Khan returned to the centre and was placed in Maxine's expert care.  Maxine was responsible for Khan's specialized training and of course she matched Kelby and Khan..... best match ever !     and finally Jenge come through from Pretoria for the day. Khan definitely approves!

How you can help...

Image
The SA Guide Dogs Association of South Africa is dependant on donations to continue to do the amazing work they do with these stunning dogs!   Each dog costs around R 10,000.00 from birth, through training to when he or she goes home with its partner.   All the Association asks from the new partner (ie owner) is a paltry R 5.00 donation - thats right just ZAR 5.00 that is less than 1 USD!   So if you could spare a quick SMS you too can make a difference in someones life!   SMS the word " SEE " to 38051 for an automatic donation of R 10.00.  This is a direct donation to the Association - I wont even know if you donate or not.

Doogy Boot Camp Day 1...

So yesterday I got to meet Kelby's big boy Khan....and I can tell you he is just awesome!  He has the sweetest nature, with a hint of a mischevious side!   Just gorgeous!   A special bond is forming!   Such a good boy!

Welcome to Kahn....!

So this is Kahn....its just a cell phone picture but it is the very first pic of him!  You can be sure that I'll be updating here regularly. Kahn is Kelby's service dogs, she has waited patiently for around 2 years for him and I can already tell that he will be the most loved and adored dog ever! And yes, he is named after Kahn from the Parlotones..... not sure if I'm seeing the resemblance.....
